Chesterfield Responds to Va Beach Shootings

Chesterfield County immediately deployed four EMS and Fire personnel to help with 911 calls and offer support in the field, says County Administrator Dr. Joe Casey.

“We’re there to help, not hinder. So however they define that help we’ll do our best to assist.”

Casey says the County offered to send their mental health services director and staff from their Human Resources department. The HR employees would help process the 12 insurance claims of the victims.

Casey adds the county is also being mindful when it comes to their own utilities department. He says they will be conducting a listening session with employees this week.

“So we just want the customer and the employee to know we are especially aware of what they may be feeling.”

At 3:45 Friday afternoon the county will have moment silence at the historic Courthouse Liberty Bell, then will ring chimes 12 times in honor of the victims.
