Rioters from California Sentenced in Charlottesville

Three men who were part of a Southern California-based fight club received two- and three-year prison sentences Friday for interstate rioting-- including at the deadly 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville.

Michael Paul Miselis, Benjamin Drake Daley, and Thomas Walter Gillen pleaded guilty. But Gillen's father, James, claims the government pushed too hard.

"They really over-reached, and they really over-prosecuted."

Not so, says prosecutor Thomas Cullen.

"The evidence speaks for itself: Two women beaten bloody, an African-American man punched and kicked and kicked while he was on the ground."

Lawyers for the three men said they plan to appeal the federal riot statute as unconstitutional.

A fourth convicted rioter still awaits sentencing.
