Another New Elementary School Set To Open In Chesterfield

Construction on Old Hundred Elementary School wasn’t supposed to be completed until Fall of 2022. But the timeline got pushed forward due to overcrowding at nearby schools. Lindsay Mottley is the school’s new principal.

“We have a staff of big thinkers who are ready to roll.”

Mottley says her biggest challenge is to not tackle too much in the first year.

School Board Chair Rob Thompson says so far all the new schools have opened on time and under budget. He says there will be a total of 10 new schools by Fall of 2022. Old Hundred has the capacity to fit 900 students. Thompson says earlier this year it was projected to open with under 700 students, but that number changed.

“Between the redistricting in December and getting ready to open a school, we’re opening at around 760.”

Thompson says many students who attended private schools in the area will be attending Old Hundred this fall.
