Hurricane watches and tropical storm watches are now in effect for portions of northeast North Carolina and southeast Virginia. Charles Fishburne reports on what has changed overnight.
Transcript:
The National Weather Service says there is “steadily increasing confidence” we will see direct impacts from the storm.
Mike Montefusco: That is correct
Meteorologist Mike Montefusco
Montefusco: Some minor changes to the timing with respect to the system. We are stating the impact more into Thursday night and Friday Morning now.
For southeast Virginia that includes heavy rain, flash flooding, potential for life-threatening winds and wind damage, surge and tidal flooding, rip currents, rough surf and dangerous marine conditions.
Montefusco: Here in the metro region we are looking for, for the most part, half to one inch of rain, maybe a little bit more east of 95, a period of gusty winds as we get into Thursday night, Friday morning.
Forecasts can change. Stay tuned for updates. Charles Fishburne, VPM News.
