Chesterfield schools may be facing a bus shortage but they hope that a new app that tracks school buses will help ease parent’s frustrations.

School spokesman Shawn Smith says that the district shuttles over 45,000 students every day using 500 buses. Smith acknowledges that the county has a shortage of drivers. He says that the app is another tool to help keep parents informed.

“And we feel like this is an aspect that gives our parents access in a transparent way to know exactly when their child’s bus will be coming to pick them up and drop them off.”

The app is called VersaTrans-E-Link and it’s also available for Richmond Public Schools. A spokesman for Henrico Schools says they are considering the use of the app in the future.
