In a lightning round of questions, moderator and political analyst Bob Holsworth asked whether the county should try again to have a referendum on a meals tax. Voters defeated an earlier referendum in 2013.
Democratic Candidate Murti Khan said he would back a tax, but wants community input on how money is allocated.
“Would they want two-percent in their real estate taxes taken off and then two-percent given to schools?”
Khan is running against Republican Jim Ingle for the Bermuda district seat.
“I’m personally against it but I am for the community having the opportunity to make that decision.”
Both candidates are running to replace three-term supervisor Dorothy Jaeckle, who decided not to seek reelection.
