His visit was organized by the progressive group People For the American Way which Baldwin sits on the board of the group. The actor starred on the TV show 30 Rock and has made recent appearances on Saturday Night Live impersonating Donald Trump.

Chase shot back on Facebook that “my socialist opponent, Amanda Pohl, meeting constituents with Alec Baldwin, who berates young women” -- a reference to a 2007 recorded voicemail where Baldwin can be heard ranting at his then 11 year-old daughter.

Hanover County native Jason Mraz has written songs supporting two other state senate candidates. Presidential hopefuls Beto O’Rourke, Corey Booker, and Elizabeth Warren have also made recent stops in support of Democrats.
