Out of the nine partisan races, only two Democrats defeated their Republican opponents. Both were Incumbents. Jennifer Hughes held onto her Commissioner of the Revenue position. And Board of Supervisor Jim Holland easily won the Dale District. He says with the State trending blue, he expected the Board to gain more Democrats.
“So I was somewhat surprised by that and a somewhat very disappointed, as I have been the lone Democrat on the Board and continue to be.”
Holland says his critical priorities are to improve transportation throughout the County and to work with the newly elected School Board on maintenance and overcrowding issues. He says it’s also important for the Board of Supervisors to be transparent.
“And that the citizens understand the process and that we continue to serve them in the best way possible.”
This will be Holland’s fourth term on the Board. Each term runs four years.
