GRTC Will Reduce Bus Service On Christmas, New Year's

Pulse bus

For the first time, GRTC will heavily cut back on how often buses run on Christmas and New Year's Days.

The regional transit system has always operated on a Sunday schedule on the two holidays, but GRTC spokeswoman Carrie Rose Pace says they’re planning to reduce service even more because of low demand.

“You may still get people traveling in the mornings, but by the afternoons most people are settled wherever they are for celebrating both holidays,” she said. “So what we found is we too should be adjusting our schedules to match what the actual ridership needs are.”

The Pulse Bus Rapid Transit line will continue to run buses every 15 minutes. Bus lines that service hospitals will not be affected by the reduced holiday service.

Residents are encouraged to plan their routes online here.
