Chesterfield Roundabout Begins Work

A new roundabout to help stem crashes in Chesterfield County is one step closer to completion.

Over the past five years, the intersection of Old Hundred and Otterdales roads has seen least 26 crashes, with one fatality, according to figures from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles. The County approved changes back in 2014 and has now selected a contractor to start work on a roundabout.

Otterdale and Old Hundred are two lanes roads that run through a rural part of the county, near the Brandermill and Swift Creek Reservoir areas. The intersection is close to newly constructed housing developments, including Hallsley and New Market at RounTrey.

This will be the third roundabout located on Otterdale Road, according to VDOT.
