Chesterfield County residents got an update from developers last night on Courthouse Landing, a proposed mixed-use project that includes residential buildings, office space and a hotel.
Last month, the Board of Supervisors sent the Courthouse Landing proposal back to the Planning Commission. They wanted more studies on the impact to traffic, schools and the nearby Chesterfield County airport.
Resident Steve Bosshard is a pilot who’s concerned that residents will complain about loud planes flying overhead.
“Make a tremendous amount of noise. And the people that are going to live there are not going to be happy,” he said.
Bosshard says he’s worried that future complaints from residents might lead to the closure of the airport.
Chair Gloria Freye says the developers have lowered the height of buildings to accommodate flight patterns and would install noise buffering materials inside buildings. Lawyers for the developers say that they’ll also let potential residents know about the possibility of airport noise.
Frey says the Planning Commission may hold another public hearing on the project at their next meeting, March 17. The measure would go back to the Board of Supervisors in April.
