Police Arrest 23-Year-Old Man Over Threats Against House Speaker Filler-Corn

A 23-year-old Fairfax County native was arrested on a felony charge of threatening Virginia House of Delegates Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn on social media. Norfolk police took Stephen Hartzell into custody today after a Richmond judge issued an arrest warrant.

Capitol Police Chief Anthony Pike said quote “Violence or the threat of it, whether aimed at those who legislate or their staff members, is not a part of that equation and it will not be tolerated under any circumstances.”

According to a statement from police, Hartzell faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted on a charge of threatening to burn or bomb.
