During the coronavirus outbreak, VPM is running a daily newscast of our reporting, hosted by Benjamin Dolle. Episodes are recorded at 6 p.m. and released for 7 a.m. the next day, Tuesday through Friday.

Virginia has one of the lowest testing rates in the country, but has recently expanded capacity. Gov. Ralph Northam announced a new task force to coordinate efforts and ensure testing increases.

Coronavirus in correctional facilities more widespread than previously realized
After testing 434 people and discovering infections in 170 incarcerated people and 53 employees, many without symptoms, the Virginia Department of Corrections announced an expansion of testing at some correctional facilities.

In Chesterfield, dinner added to free meal offerings for students
To help families during the COVID-19 outbreak, Chesterfield is adding free dinners for students at their meal distribution sites. Three times a week, parents can pick up breakfast, lunch, and dinner at one of 60 sites.

To keep residents informed during the coronavirus pandemic, Chesterfield County is producing Spanish-language videos on COVID-19. Two recent videos offer advice for parents on helping children handle stress and other strong emotions.

Making history at the Valentine
The Valentine museum launched a project earlier this month to gather artistic works from local youth documenting their experience with coronavirus. The museum has now gathered more than 20 submissions, which are shared on their website and social media. The museum is still asking for drawings, photographs, and writing, which can be submitted on their website.
