- The Virginia Court of Appeals will consider the case of two Virginia men who are serving life in prison for the murder of a police officer - despite a federal jury’s ‘not guilty’ verdict. As Whittney Evans reports, it’s a complicated case highlighting how federal and state criminal prosecutions intertwine.
- Yesterday, Richmond Police arrested and charged three men they suspect were involved in a shooting that killed two bystanders: a woman and her 3-month-old daughter. Two groups exchanged gunfire Tuesday night, across from an apartment complex courtyard filled with children. Detectives are reviewing video footage to identify other possible suspects. In a press conference earlier in the day, Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney asked people to come forward if they know how this happened. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
- Thursday night, residents can learn more about a major road improvement project slated for part of Route 60 in Chesterfield County. If it’s approved, officials say this project will be the first of many quote “innovative intersections.”
- The Richmond-based band Butcher Brown made theirNPR Tiny Desk Concert debut last week. VPM Intern News Brandon Shillingford had a chance to talk to them about the performance and the challenges of making music during a global pandemic.
