Richmond official breaks down methods behind city’s universal pre-K study

A group called the Children’s Funding Project is studying what it would cost to provide high-quality free preschool to all 3 and 4-year-olds in Richmond. The study results are expected next spring.
UVA infectious disease expert says to take 'monkeypox quite seriously'

Experts have been critical of the federal government’s response to the current monkeypox outbreak and are particularly concerned about the lack of clinical trials exploring the efficacy of available treatment options. Locally, the Richmond and Henrico Health Districts have around 340 doses of the monkeypox vaccine available, while more than 1,300 people have expressed interest in getting the shot as of this week.
Study finds Virginia Medicaid expansion increased financial security

The results of the study, published this month in the journal Health Affairs, echo findings in other states that have expanded Medicaid. The research focused on the nearly 675,000 people who were enrolled after lawmakers expanded access in 2019.
