Dear community members,

Earlier this year, we asked what you wanted 2022 candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives, specifically in the 5th and 7th districts, to talk about as they compete for votes. As we inch closer to Election Day we would like to know: What questions you have for candidates on abortion and reproductive health?

This topic was selected because it has been debated in the news significantly since the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization in June. This specific issue was also mentioned by quite a few respondents to the previous survey round. You’ll be able to add your thoughts here

Like the initial batch of questions, VPM News is seeking responses to this crucial question through a program called Hearken, which is used for engagement initiatives to develop projects with the community’s input. Initially, we had hoped to hold a series of listening sessions over the summer, but the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic led us to rethink those plans.

Your invaluable input will be worked on by the VPM News team and may take the form of articles on vpm.org or feature stories showcased on VPM News’ programs on NPR or PBS, such as the VPM Daily Newscast or VPM News Focal Point. Your questions also could be posed directly to candidates during debates hosted by VPM News, which will be broadcast on multiple platforms.

The People’s Agenda Election Survey reopens on Sept. 5 and runs until Sept. 16. If you have any questions before taking the survey, email us at [email protected]

Sincerely,

Elliott Robinson, VPM News Director
