Lunenburg County schools closed following shooting threat
Reported by VPM News’ Megan Pauly

Lunenburg County closed all four of its schools Monday after the Sheriff’s office located a school shooting threat on social media Sunday afternoon. The threat did not specify a school name, but did mention two towns in the district where schools are located — Kenbridge and Victoria — according to the Sheriff’s department. A spokesperson for Virginia State Police said it’s difficult to estimate how long tracking the IP address could take.

Virginians gather at war memorial to honor those who died in 9/11 attacks
Reported by VPM News’ Patrick Larsen

Virginians gathered for a Patriot Day remembrance of the civilians and first responders who died in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, at the Virginia War Memorial on Monday. The ceremony, attended by more than 100 people, took place in the Shrine of Memory, underneath a towering glass wall etched with the names of 175 Virginians who died while serving in the U.S. military in the years since 9/11.

Sentara Healthcare suffers unconventional data breach
Reported by WHRO News’ Katherine Hafner

Sentara’s Williamsburg hospital is notifying patients that some patient information may have been compromised, but the breach is not from a usual hacking attempt. The information was stored on a specific medical device used to diagnose gastrointestinal issues. The device was missing when staff went to access it, and it has not yet been found. It is unknown if any medical information was accessed, but Sentara is notifying patients out of an abundance of caution.
