Julep’s owner readies new Lakeside restaurant

When Julep’s New Southern Cuisine owner Amy Cabaniss and executive chef Cory Chaney leased a building in mid-2019, they anticipated opening a new restaurant there a few months later. Nearly four years later, delayed but undeterred by the pandemic, they’re now set to open Revel Market and Bar at 6223 Lakeside Ave.
Giavos restaurant family buys old Lafayette Pharmacy building

A prolific local restaurant group has added to their holdings in the Malvern Gardens section of the city. The Giavos family, headed by Johnny and Katrina Giavos, has purchased the former Lafayette Pharmacy building at 1011 Lafayette St. for $1.5 million.
Rum-centric cocktail bar taking shape near Midlothian

A trio of restaurant-industry veterans are running with rum as the focus of their first shared venture. Husband-and-wife Jessica and Josh Bufford, along with friend and now–business partner Chris Staples, are opening Sidecar Cocktail Lounge next month at 3730 Winterfield Road in the Winterfield Place shopping center near the Powhatan-Chesterfield county line.
Construction set to start on $21M apartment project near Six Points

Site work is slated to start next month on an apartment development on Brookland Park Boulevard that’s been nearly a decade in the making. Enterprise Community Development announced this week it has closed on its construction financing for its Brookland Park Apartments project, a 66-unit, $21 million project planned for the 1200 block of East Brookland Park Boulevard.
Nichols brothers grab more Scott’s Addition real estate

A prominent local family known for its Scott’s Addition holdings ended 2022 with a seven-figure deal that gave them control of a full city block in the bustling neighborhood. Last month an entity tied to brothers Jay, Keith and Jeff Nichols, who formerly owned HandCraft Cleaners, purchased 3201 Norfolk St. and 3200 Moore St. for $4 million.
