Meadowbrook High School will be closed, including all after-school activities, on Wednesday, Oct. 2.
School officials said that counselors and mental health professionals will be available at the school, 4901 Cogbill Road, to support students and staff members from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday instead.
Chesterfield County Public Schools issued the high school’s closure notice late Tuesday following the on-campus stabbing of a Meadowbrook student. The alleged assailant is also a student at the high school and is in police custody.
At 1:06 p.m., Meadowbrook families received a notice that the school was on lockdown “due to an assault” that Chesterfield Police responded to. The school remained on lockdown until a staggered early dismissal.
All CCPS facilities will be closed on Thursday, Oct. 3, for a planned districtwide holiday. Classes are scheduled to resume at all schools on Friday, Oct. 4.
