Why It's No Good to Doubt Tiger Woods

After 91 holes of golf over five days, Tiger Woods won the US Open for the third time. He defeated little known Rocco Mediate, who played the tournament of his life, including a one-on-one tie-breaking game against Woods that ended on the 19th hole.

The odds were against Tiger Woods in this tournament. He was recovering from recent knee surgery and some people, like Detroit Free Press columnist Carlos Monarrez, thought his injury might do him in. Last week, he wrote, "Tiger Woods has no chance of winning the US Open." Monarrez joined Talk of the Nation from Detroit to eat his words.
