News coverage of Judge Sonia Sotomayor's Supreme Court confirmation hearings has dominated the news. But many expect Spanish-language media to be especially tuned in, as Sotomayor is of Puerto Rican descent. Some say popular television networks such as Univision and Telemundo have missed the mark.

Three prominent Latino journalists — Gerson Borrero, of New York's El Diario/La Prensa; Lori Montenegro, a correspondent for Telemundo and Maria Elena Salinas, a news anchor for Univision, debate whether their news organizations have a special obligation to cover the hearings. If confirmed, Sotomayor would be the first Latina appointed to the high court.
