Guest DJ Jim Jarmusch Previews The All Tomorrow's Parties Music Festival

collage

In a crowded field of annual music festivals, All Tomorrow's Parties stands out as unusually eclectic, in part because many of the featured acts are chosen by other artists. Singer Nick Cave picked the bands one year; so did Simpsons creator Matt Groening. This year's curator is filmmaker Jim Jarmusch. His chosen lineup will be featured this weekend, just as ATP celebrates its 10th anniversary. Some of the bands Jarmusch picked include the doom-metal group Sunn 0))), rapper Raekwon and blues guitarist T-Model Ford.

On this edition of All Songs Considered, Jarmusch shares songs by some of the acts he selected. He also reveals what he calls the scourge of popular music, the common threads in the music he loves, and why listening to singer Hope Sandoval is like "burnt honey being poured over you."
