In a note to staff, VP of Content (Culture Programming), Yolanda Sangweni and Senior Director, Platform Integration, Beth Donovan, shared the following update:
Beth Donovan and I are pleased to announce that Ciera Crawford has been promoted to Chief Arts and Culture Hub Editor at NPR. In this role, Ciera will be tasked with leading coverage on the culture desk with a keen focus on original reporting and the signature curation initiatives that set NPR apart. Serving the network and desk through collaboration with newsmagazines, newscasts and podcasts that prioritize culture coverage will be a priority.
Over the past few months, Ciera has been a key player in the brain trust of the Arts & Culture Hub, NPR's effort to align cultural coverage to best serve our audiences. Her collaboration has been essential as we continue building a unified vision of NPR's culture coverage.
"Everything I've done in my career has prepared me for this opportunity," said Ciera. "As a longtime NPR listener and Virginia State University alumna, I'm truly honored. I look forward to partnering with my colleagues across the network to elevate NPR's culture coverage."
Ciera came to the culture desk in 2021 from ATC where she was a Supervising Producer. She joined NPR as a Producer in 2019.
Please join us in congratulating Ciera.
