In a note to newsroom staff, Natalie Winston, Executive Producer, Booking and Specials made the following announcement:

Hi all –
I am thrilled to announce that Luke Garrett has been hired as an Editor on the Network Booking Team, filling the vacancy left by Carol Klinger. Anyone who has worked with Luke over the last 9 months knows that he is a great journalist and collaborator.
In this role, Luke will continue to own all election-related bookings through November and help with special coverage. He’s already made significant contributions to our coverage and has even done his own original reporting (he tracked down the original 14th Amendment!).
Before coming to NPR, Luke spent three years at WTOP, where he worked as a producer, podcast host and reporter. His podcast, The DMV Download, won the 'Best Audio-Podcast Award' from the Chesapeake AP Broadcasters Association. The show was also nominated for a national NAB Marconi Award. He got his professional start in journalism at The San Diego Union-Tribune. Luke majored in Physics and Philosophy at the University of San Diego, where he served as the Editor-in-Chief of the school's student-run newspaper – The USD Vista.
We are so glad that Luke is here to stay!
Natalie
