JUNE 27 2025; FORT MYERS, FL – Ye Gods With Scott Carter, a weekly podcast produced by Southwest Florida's WGCU Public Media and Efficiency Studios, launches August 27 in partnership with the NPR Network. WGCU and the NPR Network plan to have an "always-on" approach to distributing Ye Gods with Scott Carter, with 120 episodes published over the next three years.
Host Scott Carter, an award-winning executive producer and writer, known for his work on Real Time With Bill Maher and Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher, explores codes of religious, cultural and secular conduct. Among Carter's diverse celebrity guests are Ken Burns, Patricia Heaton, Killer Mike, Sam Harris, Rabbi Sharon Brous, Larry Wilmore, Moon Zappa, Rainn Wilson, Yvonne Orji, Rabbi Steve Leder and Tim Gunn.
"Ye Gods with Scott Carter is an exciting and uplifting podcast that brings people of various cultures, faiths and philosophies together through the common lens of humanity," said WGCU General Manager Corey Lewis. "The show is another example of how our station, and many other NPR member stations, have the resources and connections to strong, independent producers to add value to the NPR Network. And the NPR Network has the power to make our projects successful."
This project builds upon the success of previous collaborations, including The Last Ride, a 2023 podcast co-produced by WGCU and USA Today Network, and distributed by NPR. The series won a regional Edward R. Murrow Award and received 1.7 million downloads globally and continues to add new listeners.
The podcast is produced by WGCU and Efficiency Studios and will be distributed by the NPR Network.
