I'm delighted to announce that Barton Girdwood has been promoted to Supervising Producer of It's Been a Minute. In this role, Barton is tasked with helping to evolve IBAM's sound and push its ambitions.

Since joining IBAM in 2022, Barton has been a strong editorial leader. As Senior Producer, he led the show through its transition from Sam Sanders to Brittany Luse and has spearheaded original coverage of some of the biggest trends in culture — from tradwives on TikTok to the rise of podcast bros in the 2024 presidential election.

Before IBAM, Barton served as the lead producer on The NPR Politics Podcast. He transitioned the show from bi-weekly to daily while covering the 2018 midterms, 2020 election, and traveling with NPR's political correspondents on the campaign trail and through Congress and The White House.

Barton began his NPR career as an intern on TED Radio Hour. He was later tapped by Morning Edition to produce and direct NPR's flagship morning show. While there he was part of the team that launched NPR's daily news podcast, Up First.

In short, Barton has receipts! Please join me in congratulating him.
