Evie Stone named Executive Producer of Weekend Edition and Up First Saturday

Hi all, I am pleased to announce Evie Stone will be the next Executive Producer of Weekend Edition and Up First Saturday. Evie began at NPR as an elections intern during the 2002 midterms. She covered seven elections for the network, and produced NPR’s special election coverage in 2012 and 2014. Between election cycles, she was a producer at the National and Washington Desks and for All Things Considered, covering stories including Hurricane Katrina, the BP Oil Spill, survivors of sex trafficking, whistleblower protections, how auto crash tests work and the afterlife. She has served as the Senior Supervising Editor for Weekend Edition since 2018, collaborating with show staff and newsroom colleagues to build weekend morning shows that bring humanity and context to the news cycle. The hiring committee was impressed with Evie’s passion for new ideas and her deep institutional knowledge of NPR. One of the panelists said, “She's experienced, smart, articulate, passionate and loves her job and team."
