Q & A
Q: Why did you replace The World?
A: Think, offers new perspectives on science, culture and politics from America's heartland. VPM is committed to bringing you the news that matters from around the world. The BBC World Service, Morning Edition, and All Things Considered will continue to provide in-depth examinations of international news as they always have.
Q: Why did you stop airing All Things Considered?
A: You can still hear All Things Considered on VPM News from 4:00-6:30 p.m. The shows that have been added to weeknights at 8:00 p.m. go in-depth on the topics you hear discussed during All Things Considered.
Q: Are you scaling back classical music programming?
A: VPM Music is committed to showcasing all kinds of music. That commitment includes classical music. While we won't continue to air SymphonyCast, classical music is still available throughout our schedule, including Sunday afternoons.
Q: Why did you stop airing This American Life?
A: This American Life is still on twice a week: Sunday at 10:00 a.m. and Thursday at 8:00 p.m. Now you can get your fix of Ira Glass and the This American Life team before the weekend begins or relax to it while sipping coffee on Sunday morning.
Q: When does Star Date air?
A: We wanted our astronomy lovers to have more time to plan their evening sky watching. Star Date is now at 5:19 p.m. during All Things Considered.
Q: Did VPM Forum end?
A: No, Our Body Politic, the show you have heard as part of VPM Forum since January 2021, is now on Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. We will continue broadcasting local discussions from across Central Virginia during weekdays this fall.
Q: Did you stop airing a show because you did not like it?
A: We have not cancelled a single program. We just realigned the schedule to fit with the beats of your day.
Q: Why are you changing the schedule?
A: We want to connect you to more of what matters. The additions of Climate One, The Pulse, Our Body Politic, This American Life and Reveal will add a broader perspective on news and culture to our weeknight lineup.
Understanding science is key to understanding today’s headlines. Climate One and The Pulse add more context to the news we already air by diving deeper into the science headline that matter.
With Reveal, Our Body Politic and the second hour of 1A, we are adding more voices and more viewpoints to our schedule (History & Politics).
We want to reflect the whole you.
