VPM supports home learning by providing educational shows aligned with classroom instruction weekdays on VPM Plus

Beginning January 18, the new local series Songs and Stories with Mary and Mike will be joining the VPM Plus lineup featuring music and stories for young children hosted by educators, Mary and Mike Anderson. The show integrates and models the state's new early childhood learning standards for literacy, math, and social emotional areas of development as well as the National Standards for Music Education. Each episode forges connections across the greater community by featuring guest teachers, artists, musicians, authors, and community members.

The winter VPM home learning schedule will also include new episodes of Cooking up Science with Miss America, NASA at Home, NASA eClips at Home , The Creative Corner, and Read Write Now developed for students in grades 4-10. Science Matters Features will be added to the mix featuring content from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, the Virginia Zoo and the Science Museum of Virginia. Educator-produced and geared toward middle and high school students, these programs all correlate with the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOLs).

Also, stay tuned for a program from Fitness DAWGS geared for children ages 4 to 7. The show will focus on childhood health and healthy living and incorporate Virginia Foundation Blocks for Health and Physical Development for pre-K, as well as Health and Physical Education Standards of Learning for Virginia Public Schools grades K–2. Diet And Workout = Great Success!

Encore episodes of Circle Time at Home will continue to bring a familiar school routine into the homes of young learners as Ms. Gaby and fellow regional educators provide engaging and interactive family-centered learning focused on social emotional, language, cognitive, and physical health areas of development.

VPM is committed to providing commercial-free, family-friendly program options so that all children have access to trusted educational programs and activities during their at-home school day. To learn more, visit: vpm.org/homelearning
