Calling all Women in STEAM! Apply to lead a workshop at Full STEAM Ahead and inspire Richmond’s young women. The deadline to apply is May 2.
Full STEAM Ahead (FSA) is a day-long conference by CodeVA dedicated to empowering girls through Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics. The conference inspires students by connecting them with female role models in engaging hands-on workshops. This year, FSA will be held at the VCU Engineering Building on Saturday, June 29th, 2019, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
FSA is looking for a diverse group of women to share their experience in STEAM fields. Past speakers have shared that they loved the opportunity to interact with enthusiastic students AND connect with like-minded peers from across Virginia! All experience levels are welcome to apply. Applicants should be at least 16 years old.
Here are some tips for a great application:
- Workshops should inform, inspire, and engage rising 6th-9th grade girls in STEAM fields.
- Workshops should incorporate an interactive or hands-on portion into your workshop. This can be an experiment, an exercise, a relevant game, artifacts or equipment, or a team activity.
