The RVA arts and culture community continues to pivot to online and social-distance-appropriate events. If you are missing your favorite music, festivals, exhibits, or theatre - odds are there is something virtual out there for you. Take a look at what’s on this week!
1. "MORAL, MATERNAL, MANNISH, & MONSTROUS: SUFFRAGIST IMAGES, 1900-1920"

As the fight for female suffrage in America intensified in the early 20th century, pro- and anti-suffrage forces deployed propagandist imagery to convey their message. Discover what period images of suffragists tell us about historical attitudes toward women and their role in American civic life. This program is part of the Virginia Museum of History and Cultures’s Curators At Home Series taped by curatorial staff members from their own homes.
2. ART OF COMMUNITY: A POSTCARD PROJECT

3. CREATIVEMORNINGS RVA: NATURE

CreativeMornings is the world’s largest face-to-face creative community - but with social distancing, current gatherings are through Zoom. Like other CreativeMorning chapters worldwide, RVA creatives get together each month to chat, connect, and listen to a member of our community chat on a singular theme. 8. VIRGINIA MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS ONLINE COLLECTIONS

The VMFA has a robust online collection of art and artists stories, such as their collection of African American art, of which the above Three Folk Musicians by Romare Bearden is a recent acquisition. Beyond their collections, the VMFA also offers online audio tours, which are perfect for the student or adult wanting a deeper dive into the meaning, context, and history behind the art.
