Three Richmond restaurants have recommendations for cocktails you can make at home and enjoy while participating in upcoming virtual events from your couch, balcony, or anyplace your wifi will reach! And we also have a video for mocktails provided by NPR's Life Kit.

Check out these videos, order any needed ingredients to make at home, or support a local business by ordering food and drink for pick up or delivery. Johnny Takes A Walk by Nasib Saifullah of Nama in the Arts District
Try this special twist on the Boulevardier, which is a twist on a Negroni, especially of interest to whisky lovers. Nasib Saifullah of Nama guides us through his special recommendation.

Ingredients: 


  • 3/4 oz rye whiskey
  • 3/4 oz whisky
  • 1 oz aperol
  • 3/4 oz sweet vermouth
  • bitters
  • orange peel

 

The Old Fashioned by Brandon Peck of The Jasper in Carytown
Brandon Peck, bar manager at The Jasper, calls this cocktail deceptively simple, reliably delicious, and worthy of your trust. 

Ingredients:


  • 2 oz bourbon whiskey
  • 1/4 oz demerara gomme syrup
  • angostura bitters
  • orange bitters
  • lemon & orange peel

 

Painkiller by Brooke Flowers of Island Shrimp Co. at Chesterfield Town Center
Who couldn't use a Painkiller right about now? Brooke Flowers from Island Shrimp Co. suggests a “Painkiller” and takes you through the steps to making this potent cocktail, which she dedicates to everyone who has had to cancel a vacation this summer!

Ingredients:


  • 1.5 oz rum 
  • 3 oz pineapple Juice
  • 3/4 oz orange juice
  • 1/2 oz cream of coconut
  • garnish with nutmeg, orange, and cherry -- bonus points for pineapple fronds

 

The Modern Mocktail: Learn how to make three zero-proof cocktails from NPR’s Life Kit — a botanical water Collins, basil fennel tonic water and a kombucha-based cocktail — that will have all your guests asking for another round.
