Art begins with noticing - from sunrises and sunsets, to birds flitting outside our windows, to rainbows after a storm. As we continue to stay at home, gently easing back into our neighborhoods, take notice of what has changed and what hasn’t. RVA’s art community still offers exceptional art, stories, and performances all around this region - even now - and our artists continue to surprise us with their innovation and creativity. Check out these ways to stay connected, as we begin to look to the future.
1. BAAAR COVID-19 RELIEF AUCTION

Inspired by CultureWorksdedication to supporting artists’ households during the pandemic, artists from the Black American Artists Alliance of Richmond are creating original works to raise funds for the CultureWorks COVID-19 Arts & Culture Relief Fund. BAAAAR artists will post new works up for auction on their individual Facebook and/or Instagram from 9am - 9pm and donate the proceeds to CultureWorks.
2. FIRST FRIDAYS FEATURING GULL LIVE

Gallery5 has kept the tradition of First Friday alive for 15 years, and they don't plan to stop now! Join them on Facebook or Instagram live with a drink and catch ultimate local legend Gull. Suggested donation of $10, but every little bit helps!
3. CINEMATHEQUE VIRTUELLE: FRENCH FILMS FROM YOUR COUCH

We all missed the French Film Festival and look forward to 2021 when it returns to The Byrd Theatre! In the meantime, The Byrd curated a some wonderful French Films to enjoy virtually, right from the comfort of your own home.
4. #RVAHISTORYHUNT
History

#RVAHistoryHunt is a collaboration by Richmond cultural organizations to present a unique scavenger hunt experience using a new way of engaging with the Richmond community, while practicing safe social distancing. There are two available scavenger hunts - one physical and one digital - to enjoy with family, roommates, or on your own. Participants also have the opportunity to enter to win museum shop discounts and items from participating locations!
5. VIRTUAL STORY TIME WITH TARNESHIA

Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens brings Children’s Educator Tarneshia Evans to Facebook Live so she can read a few of her favorite stories about nature for your kids!
6. HEIFETZ RUBATO: THE VIRTUAL CONCERT HALL

Heifetz Rubato International Music Institute presents The Virtual Concert Hall with a special Alumni Showcase and Preview Concert. The live streaming event will feature an all-star cast of Heifetz alumni sharing performances from around the world, including Boston, New York City, Houston, Hawaii, Montreal, Hong Kong, and even a surprise Staunton landmark.
7. CELESTIAL 2020

Coronavirus lockdowns aren’t stopping Maggie Walker Governor School’s art seniors from hosting their annual capstone show online this year. Although it seems we are more distant now than the planets themselves, we chose the theme “Celestial” to show strength in unity. Individually each of us is remarkable, but together we are extraordinary. A Zoom opening will be held the first night with comments from the artists, with the artwork remaining up for view in the weeks that follow.

Come ready to talk about BOOKS at Intermission Beer Company’s Virtual Books & Brews Meetup. Any books-whatever you are reading, want to read, or have read. It's a ton of fun, rich discussion, and BEER! You will likely add to your "must read" list.
