We can hardly skip October, with its crisp weather, colorful leaves, and grinning jack-o-lanterns. This week, there are many arts and culture events designed to enjoy the beautiful weather and get into the Halloween spirit. Be on the lookout for socially-distanced festivals and performances to keep you engaged throughout the season!

2. "SUPPRESSED: THE FIGHT TO VOTE"

The Richmond Public Library offers a virtual film screening of Suppressed: The Fight to Vote followed by a panel discussion and audience Q&A. This is a free program, but REGISTRATION is required. This program is in partnership with the Right to Vote Coalition and VCU's Common Book program.

Breakthrough by Sara Henry is Art Works’ featured exhibit in October. Sara is from Alaska, now lives in Arkansas and brings her three dimensional ceramic paintings to our city this fall. You will see ceramic paintings in the form of towers, walls, orbs, and tiles. Also exhibiting Richmond artists: Robert Pfeifer, Libby Clark and Robert Wynne. At the opening reception, Art Works invite you to be creative and draw, paint, sew, attach, and reconstruct your face covering to depict your favorite Halloween ghoul, creature, famous person, animal, etc. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place creations. This event is free and open to the public, but you must REGISTER.
4. POSITIVE THINKING

The Chamber Music Society of Central Virginia kicks off an unusual 16th season with "Positive Thinking," a concert of music for flute, guitar and cello. The focus is joy and energy - from a charming 19th take on Austrian folk tunes, to the sophisticated groove of French composer Guillaume Connesson, to an exhilarating lesson on the history of the tango by Astor Piazzolla. Since you can't come to the Henrico Theatre, Henrico Theatre comes to you! This concert features local favorites PumpHouse Blues. Norfolk was the greatest metropolis in Colonial Virginia and the eight largest city in Colonial America.
