VPM Wins 2021 Regional Murrow Awards

VPM has received 5 Regional Murrow Awards, highlighting outstanding storytelling from diverse perspectives in news and podcasts. 

Murrow Awards are given by the Radio Television Digital News Association and honor work that demonstrates the excellence that Edward R. Murrow made a standard for the broadcast news profession.

VPM News received honors for reporting on diversity, equity and inclusion for a group of stories highlighting the impact of the pandemic as viewed through the lens of race, ethnicity and class. In addition, the news team received awards for a multimedia story about eviction during the pandemic, a series produced in collaboration with WVTF and for a documentary on Richmond Public Schools’ math curriculum.

VPM also received a Regional Murrow Award for Resettled in the podcast category. The six-part series tells the personal stories of refugees as they navigate the experience of building new lives in Virginia.

Regional Murrow winners advance to the National Murrow Award competition.
