As the Summer melts into Fall, and our schedules return to something less relaxed and more productive, remember that the arts can take you out of the daily grind of school, work, and obligations. Music, images, theatre – they can transport even the most anchored soul into an ethereal plane of beauty and meaning. Grace and Holy Trinity Church in Richmond will be celebrating the life, music, and spiritual contributions of Henry Thacker Burleigh, a saint in the Episcopal Church, known for his compositions and arrangements of spirituals to be sung by anyone who can read music. This celebration will happen during during Grace and Holy Trinity’s homecoming weekend with the Virginia Commonwealth University community as well as musicians around the greater RVA area.
2. 43RD ST FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS

From street art to fine art, the 30th annual 43rd Street Festival of the Arts has something for everyone. Limited to 70 artisans, it is a juried show of fine crafts and art featuring local and regional artisans. This RVA neighborhood festival showcases a unique selection of contemporary art and great food. It is a fundraiser for CARITAS. Presented by 43rd Street Gallery. Free and open to the public.

Reynolds Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of To Balance a Stone, a solo exhibition of Mary Temple’s works on paper and acrylic on canvas; and Sustaining Encounters, a two-person exhibition presenting the work of Nancy Blum and Joseph Scheer. Temple’s collection of work was created in the summer of 2020 during the COVID-19 quarantine. During that time Mary’s days consisted of morning walks through city parks, followed by long days and evenings working in the studio.
