CHALLENGE BEGINS FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 29
Over the past 20 years, local news outlets have been shrinking and dying due to sustained financial pressure. Local journalism is often sacrificed for bigger profits, but we run on a different model, the nonprofit model.
Thanks to community support, VPM has invested in a growing news team who are committed to delivering accurate, trustworthy news coverage of important events and issues impacting Virginians, and we’re also dedicated to broadcasting high-quality news and public affairs programs and specials, like VPM News Focal Point, PBS NewsHour, and Washington Week, locally-produced documentaries like Why This Moment, How the Monuments Came Down and HEARD, interactive discussion series like Racism: Challenging Perceptions, special broadcasts of important political events, breaking news and more. VPM News is your essential source for stories that reflect and respect all Virginia’s communities. We strive to create informed citizens through fair, relevant and nonpartisan content.
Make the most of your support for programs that keep our community informed.
When you contribute to our News and Public Affairs Challenge Friday, November 29 through Sunday, December 8, a generous group of donors who value the importance of an informed community will match EVERY dollar — up to a total of $15,000!
Help us reach our goal!
