Did you know that the VPM News team published more than 3,000 news stories last year? Did you know that VPM won more than 30 national and regional awards in the same timeframe? For the first time, VPM’s work and achievements have been summarized in a single report recapping some of the most significant efforts in the most recent fiscal year.
Take a look at VPM’s Annual Report for fiscal year 2023-2024.
“As a public media corporation, we are led by the imperative of impact, rather than the metrics of profits and ratings,” said Irene Carney, Chair of VPM Media Corporation’s Board of Directors. “Our eyes are on that prize - knowing we make a difference to you and to our communities.”
VPM’s services are broken down into three important categories: news, education and arts & culture. Each of these categories is represented throughout the report by spotlighting significant content, events, awards and more.
“Thanks to your partnership, VPM continues to produce and share content of consequence about the people, issues and topics that matter most to communities across the Commonwealth,” said VPM President & CEO Jayme Swain. “We are committed to strengthening our local news coverage, producing more arts and culture programming and improving early childhood learning outcomes.”
In the report, readers can learn about the VPM News team, which consists of more than 30 reporters and visual journalists. In 2024, the VPM News team grew and expanded the breadth of its coverage of Virginia by better reaching people where they consume news: TV, radio, social media, podcasts, online at VPM.org and e-newsletters.
Readers can also find out more about VPM’s arts & culture offerings, which now include new content such as VPM Culture on YouTube, a new, quarterly print version of Style Weekly and more. VPM’s latest arts & culture shows include Life in the Heart Land, Virginia Home Grown, Un-Wine'd and The Great American Recipe.
Additionally, readers can learn about VPM’s role as an educational partner for families, caregivers and educators of the Commonwealth, providing families across Virginia with books, toys and other learning resources to help kids in their earliest days of education.
Finally, readers will find some updates on the construction of VPM’s future headquarters in Downtown Richmond.
