In Your Ear Episode 57: Church Sisters II

two women walking infront of church

Three years ago, twin Virginia sisters Sarah and Savannah Church were primarily an acoustic bluegrass and gospel ensemble, but since then they’ve gotten married, they’ve caught the ear of Taylor Swift’s Big Machine Label Group and have released an album that leans more toward country, called A Night At The Opry. After their last In Your Ear experience they wanted to play Richmond again so we decided to give them a little more room than our 80 seat space. We partnered with the west end’s inviting listening room the Tin Pan where the Church Sisters Band shared some old favorites and introduced some new ones, in December of 2017, just ahead of their 22nd birthday. Here are highlights of our evening with the Church Sisters at the Tin Pan.

In Your Ear offers a chance to discover new artists and appreciate the “in the moment” creativity and inspiration that only live music can provide. Studio A is a “great room,” a haven for artists with intimate, friendly and informed audiences and peerless audio fidelity, thanks to engineers Carlos Chafin, Andrea Stefl and Paul Bruski. JAMinc president Tim Timberlake produces the programs covering a wide range of genres including bluegrass, jazz, blues, old time, Celtic, gospel and singer-songwriters of many styles. Artists range from superior local and regional talents, to premier acts from all over the country. Concerts are held monthly except during the summer and begin with a delicious pot luck buffet in the lobby. Check our website for information and reservations: jaminc.org/events.
