In Your Ear Episode 59: Bill Blue/Mike McAdam

group of musicians

Bill Blue is a slide guitar rock and blues, living breathing hunk of authenticity. If you hung out at “Hard Times” back in the day, you know Bill played there all the time, shaking the mortar loose from the brick walls. Bill has been a full time musician nearly all his life. A Key West resident for the last 36 years, Bill and his wife live on a houseboat and he’s a regular at famous Key West bars like the Green Parrot and the Hogsbreath Café.

Mike McAdam strummed his first guitar chords in his Richmond basement when he was 11 years old. He would commit to a career in music as a professional guitar player and would later form the renowned Good Humor Band which toured for years up and down the East Coast. Mike moved to Nashville in 1984 and became an in-demand studio session player who would figure prominently on the recordings of our former JAMinc board member and In Your Ear co-founder Robbin Thompson.  It was a fitting reunion of these key crafters of the Richmond music scene for our 100th In Your Ear studio concert. Bill and Mike would enlist  an ace rhythm section comprised of Audie Stanley on bass and Robert “Rico” Antonelli on drums for this special reunion recorded on May 16, 2018

In Your Ear offers a chance to discover new artists and appreciate the “in the moment” creativity and inspiration that only live music can provide. Studio A is a “great room,” a haven for artists with intimate, friendly and informed audiences and peerless audio fidelity, thanks to engineers Carlos Chafin, Andrea Stefl and Paul Bruski. JAMinc president Tim Timberlake produces the programs covering a wide range of genres including bluegrass, jazz, blues, old time, Celtic, gospel and singer-songwriters of many styles. Artists range from superior local and regional talents, to premier acts from all over the country. Concerts are held monthly except during the summer and begin with a delicious pot luck buffet in the lobby. Check our website for information and reservations: jaminc.org/events.
