Virginia Opera is back in town this weekend, performing Daniel Catán's "Il Postino" in the Carpenter Theatre at Dominion Energy Center. The opera is based on the 1994 Oscar-winning film, where a hapless mailman has Nobel Prize-winning poet Pablo Neruda to help him express himself to the one he loves. It's a new take on a timeless theme, Virginia Opera's "first 'From Screen to Stage' series presentation."
Performances are Friday evening at 8:00 and Sunday afternoon at 2:30. Artistic Director Adam Turner stopped by our VPM studios with tenor Daniel Montenegro (Mario Ruoppolo-the postman) to discuss this production. Enjoy our chat!
Yours in good music,
Mike Goldberg Classical Music Host, VPM Music
