Paul Merkelo has served as Principal Trumpet with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra for the last 25 years, while maintaining a busy solo career taking him all around the world. He has released a new album "The Enlightened Trumpet," which features several standard concertos in the trumpet repertoire.
I recently had the chance to sit down with Paul and chat about this project and how he ended up in Montreal. This was a fun opportunity for me, as we attended the Eastman School of Music at the same time!
