This week, Italian conductor Valentina Peleggi arrived in Richmond for a two-week stay. She is the latest Music Director candidate to conduct the Richmond Symphony and will lead the Altria Masterworks 6 program this weekend. The concert features music by Rossini, Tchaikovsky and Respighi, as well as female composers Joan Tower and Clara Schumann. The orchestra will be joined by piano soloist Angela Cheng for Schumann's Piano Concerto in A Minor (Opus 7).
Valentina stopped by our VPM studios for a chat about this weekend's performances. The concerts are Saturday evening at 8:00 P.M. and Sunday afternoon at 3:00 P.M. in the Carpenter Theatre at Dominion Energy Center.
