The Chamber Music Society of Central Virginia is presenting two concerts this weekend, one virtual and one with a live audience. Artistic Director James Wilson and composer Carlos Simon offered our listening audience a preview of the weekend events.
The Saturday concert (2PM) is a free virtual event titled "A Musical Aviary." Featured musicians will include flutist Mary Boodell, pianists Ingrid Keller and Rieko Aizawa, and violinist Jesse Mills. Sunday's performance (4PM) will be at Trinity Lutheran Church in Henrico, with violinists Meredith Riley and Christopher Whitley, violist Fitz Gary, cellist Khari Joyner and clarinetist David Lemelin. The program will feature Carlos Simon's "An Elegy: A Cry from the Grave," as well as music by Bartók and Mozart.
