Virginia Opera is back in town this weekend presenting "Three Decembers" with music by Jake Heggie and libretto by Gene Scheer.  The opera is based on an original play by Terrence McNally.  The story follows a family through three decades of life – 1986, 1996, 2006 – as they grapple with AIDS, addiction, dysfunction, and deceit.  Centered around the life and time of a Tony Award-winning Broadway Diva in the twilight of her career, Virginia Opera welcomes the real-life Tony Award-winning actress Karen Ziemba as the lead!

I had the pleasure of sitting down and chatting with Artistic Director Adam Turner about this production.  He gives us some wonderful insight that should convince you to check out the performances, which are in collaboration with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra.  You can catch "Three Decembers" Friday, February 11th at 8PM or Sunday, February 13th at 2:30PM in the Carpenter Theatre at Dominion Energy Center.

Yours in good music,
Mike Goldberg Classical Host, VPM Music
