Trumpeter Rex Richardson will be performing with the Richmond Symphony on their upcoming Pops concert Saturday, April 23rd at 8pm in the Carpenter Theatre at Dominion Energy Center. Richardson is based here in Richmond, teaching at Virginia Commonwealth University, while also maintaining a solo career as an international classical and jazz artist.
This concert will "salute the smooth, seductive sound of Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn." It will be a night of jazz standards, along with the debut of a new work composed by Trey Pollard of Richmond’s Spacebomb Records. Enjoy my chat with Rex as we discuss this exciting show!
