Throughout her prolific environmental career, Krista has witnessed many examples of how our waterways connect us. Currently working as the Director of Programming and Community Engagement at Maymont, she has also seen how we must intentionally create these connections for communities that have often been excluded in the past.

Krista reminds us that the James and our natural spaces must be accessible to everyone, not only physically, but also through inclusive mentorship of students and people of color. She shares the critical importance of utilizing the James to educate, to engage, and most importantly, to make space.

Listen to Stories by the James, Fridays at 6:44 a.m. and 8:44 a.m. during NPR's Morning Edition and at 4:44 p.m. during NPR's All Things Considered on VPM News (88.9 WCVE).
