Almeta Ingram-Miller is the leader of The Legendary Ingramettes, a nationally renowned gospel group established by her mother, Maggie Ingram, more than six decades ago.
Almeta, a legend in her own right, shares how the James River has flowed through her life in very unique ways, from witnessing one of Richmond’s worst floods as a child, to the river playing a pivotal role in skyrocketing The Legendary Ingramettes to fame. She also reflects on how the river provides a powerful source of peace and community connection, especially for her late grandson.
Listen to Stories by the James, Fridays at 6:44 a.m. and 8:44 a.m. during NPR's Morning Edition and at 4:44 p.m. during NPR's All Things Considered on VPM News (88.9 WCVE).
