Virginia Opera is returning to Richmond, opening their 2022-23 season this weekend with Richard Wagner's Die Walküre (The Valkyrie). Following the hit production of Das Rheingold in the 21/22 Season, The Ring cycle continues. "Prepare to ride with the Valkyries as we are reintroduced to Wotan and his extensive family. Now comfortably ensconced in Valhalla, they are again faced with very godly problems."
Performances are in the Carpenter Theatre at Dominion Energy Center Friday evening (10/14) at 8pm and Sunday afternoon (10/16) at 3pm. I sat down with Artistic Director Adam Turner and soprano Alexandra Loutsion (Brünnhilde) to talk about the company's current production.
