On his first visit to Richmond, the James River immediately caught the attention of Senator Tim Kaine, and after experiencing it he was easily convinced to move to the city by his wife, Anne.

Senator Kaine highlights a “Nature Triathlon” he recently completed to better understand the history and current lives of Virginians, touches on how the health of the James has improved leading up to the 50th Anniversary of the Clean Water Act on October 18, 2022, and discusses the critical importance of protecting our natural spaces through legislation and accessibility.

Listen to Stories by the James, Fridays at 6:44 a.m. and 8:44 a.m. during NPR's Morning Edition and at 4:44 p.m. during NPR's All Things Considered on VPM News (88.9 WCVE).
